UK Diving Services Ltd has been credited by the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) with the 2019 Safety Award for the implementation of robust safety management systems during underwater inspection diving operations on the Menai Strait Suspension Bridge.
This recognition highlights UKDS’s commitment to safety, compliance, and best practice during complex underwater investigations.

UKDS specialist diving teams completed multiple underwater bridge inspections throughout Scotland. The surveys included scour investigations and structural condition assessments of masonry stone and concrete bridges and culverts.
Several structures exhibited pier and abutment undermining, with UKDS recommending urgent remedial works including grouting, grout bags, and rock armour rip-rap installation.

UK Diving Services deployed advanced 3D sonar technology to survey a nine-arch masonry bridge structure. The system generated a detailed CAD-ready point cloud (.xyz) model, enabling engineers to accurately identify scour, voids, and structural section loss in zero-visibility conditions.

UKDS carried out a Principal Inspection (PI) on a seven-span masonry stone arch bridge, confirming active scour. Immediate remedial works were undertaken, including the placement of grout-filled scour bags and granite rock armour to stabilise the riverbed and protect foundations.

UK Diving Services provides professional independent marine and subsea data acquisition, interpretation and consultancy services in the UK. Our highly qualified and skilled teams of subsea surveyors provide a complete service from field operations to any other subsea consultancy needs.
Our UK survey teams regularly participate in underwater surveys to assist with bridge inspections, scour assessments, debris clearance, pipeline and cable burial, lost items, geotechnical sampling, scientific research, scour monitoring, port development, dredging, marine mining, construction and industrial monitoring compliance projects. We can provide underwater inspections within many different environmental conditions including fast flowing white water where we have successfully developed a remote torpedo probe and winch system which can be deployed adjacent many bridge and river wall structures where diver access is restricted due to turbulent water. This combined with 2D and 3D sonar systems can provide a detailed picture of the structural integrity of the asset below the water surface.

UK Diving Services have been commissioned by ATKINS to undertake numerous bridge inspections and sonar surveys on behalf of Severn Trent Water. The inspections include a variety of structures and bridges spanning small stream like waterways to large muti-span structures spanning 30 meter deep reservoirs. The works include diving and confined space access to flooded bearing chambers as part of principle inspections of both the submerged and exposed components of the bridge structures
Once again Angus council have contracted UK Diving Services as their primary choice to undertake their culvert and bridge inspections. The surveys included multiple small stone arched bridges to box culvert structures. Full HSE dive teams were utilised to inspect the below water elements of each structure as per scope of works
UKDS are providing safety boat hire services on the tidal river Thames. Our safety boats are licensed under the PLA and offer rapid rescue support to contractors working over, on or near the water. All our crews are experienced skippers with backgrounds from the military and emergency services.
